Purchases made on Charge Cards must be paid at the end of each billing period.
As a young person, your unlikely to be looking for a charge card, in fact forget about it completely! You should still know what one is though. Charge cards are different from credit cards. Once again, Charge cards are different from credit cards. With a credit card you can carry a balance and pay off the loaned money over time. Charge cards require you to pay off any charges the same month. For this reason you will not see an APR except penalty. There are some charge cards that break this rule but for the most part, it is consistent.
What are they good for then? Many are used in corporate settings to track company spending. They can also be good for travelers and have some decent bonus packages.
Charge cards often come with monthly fees and thus not “free” to use like standard cards.
